Henna is a natural permanent dye taken from the leaves of the Henna plant, Lawsonia Inermis.

It is absorbed into the proteins (keratin/skin cells) so the thicker the skin, the darker the stain that can develop. Your skin and hair type and condition will affect the outcome of the henna colour as will your home care.

Henna comes in different colours to suit your natural hair colour.

The stain will take 12-48 hours to reach its full-colour potential and generally will last 2-7 days on the skin (quicker if using AHAs, Vit A and other skin resurfacing products due to the increased cell turn over).

Henna is also absorbed by the hair, creating a semi-permanent stain that will last up to 3-4 weeks.

If you have resistant hair (white or grey) you will likely have regrowth.

All brow henna will contain different ingredients which can also include:

  • Natural Indigo (Indigofera Tinctoria - a cool-based herbal dye)
  • Natural Cacao (Theobroma cacao L. - chocolate!)
  • Magnesium
  • Herbal extracts to encourage hair growth and conditioning the hair
  • A derivative of PPD (Paraphenylenediamine)

If you are allergic to any of these ingredients or any others then henna may not be suitable for you.
Other options such as tinting may be the way to go for you.
